Here were the baboons - they were in no hurry to move out of the way of the car, and put on quite a show for us.
Here's the baby's momma! She was pretty rough looking.
We saw a few ostriches on our ride out of the park; we tried some ostrich jerky and we were going to bring some home with us, but Africa meat, even the dehydrated kind, isn't allowed stateside.
On the advice of a field guide, we took a "shortcut" back to the airport. We drove a few hours south into the park, and then drove out of the park to get on an interstate where we could zip down to the airport. The speed limit in the park was about 35 mph. These are pictures taken during our drive back to the airport. Unfortunately, this was a really sad part of the trip - we saw up close some very disturbing poverty.
Here the people live in "shanties" - buildings made from whatever they can scrape together. Some are in better shape than others. Usually ten families share a "toilet", but they have no running water, much less electricity.
Not sure why, but we saw this lady carrying a telephone pole on her head.
